This is the costume I will use in my music video. The dress, the belt, the shoes and most of the jewellery I already owned which will reduce the amount of money spent on my music video. I chose this costume because I want to use bright colours in my video as the theme is tribal. Primary colours are often used in the tribal style which is why I will use a blue dress and red shoes. The costume includes layered necklaces. This is because in tribal style, many necklaces are worn and they are brightly coloured, just as they are in the costume I am using in my music video.

Casting Change
Due
to my friend Alex working all week and me working on the weekends, it
was difficult to find a suitable day to do some filming with her which
it why I chose to cast a different friend in my music video.
Name: Shannon Purdy
Age: 18
Shannon
is currently at Wyke College studying Textiles, Psychology, Sociology
and English Language. Shan is going to be to main character in my music
video. I chose her to be in my music video as she is a close friend that
I have known most of my life and so she will be comfortable in front of
the camera and in front of me and will feel confident doing anything I
ask her to do, such as lip syncing. She
is a
reliable person and will be available for filming when I need her. She
also lives near me which will be suitable for when I need to do some
filming. Also, as we both attend the same college, I will be able to do
some filming with her during college time, in free periods and at lunch.

Magazine Advert Features
Magazine adverts are important in order to promote the digipak. They are often easily recognisable so an audience knows which artist the magazine advert is promoting. The magazine advert will usually include a 'featuring' and the name or names of songs that are featured on the digipak that have had chart success. Putting these big hits on the advert engages the audience and draws attention to the songs on the digipak, making people want to buy it. Magazine adverts are bold and to the point. They do not feature a lot of information as an audience is not likely to look at the advert if it has lots of information. The language used is informative and basic. The imagery used on the magazine advert is often the album artwork itself. This is simply so the consumer will know what to look for when they go to buy the digipak. If the magazine advert does not use the album artwork, it will usually feature a similar image .i.e. with the artist wearing the same costume and the same colour scheme used.

Font Research
I used the website dafont.com to look for fonts to use on my ancillary texts. I decided on this font;
to use for my artists name as it is bold, will stand out to an audience, it is not too fancy so it is easy to read and easily recognisable. The font is also not too plain and so will be memorable. An audience will look at it and automatically know what artist it is. Some of the other fonts I looked at were too 'handwriting' like and so were hard to read. If an audience were to look at the font, they wouldn't be able to read it easily. A font on a digipak or magazine advert should jump off the page so that it catches the audiences eye so that they will stop and look at the digipak and advert.
I also quite liked the look of this font and I considered this for my ancillary texts as it is quite unique and would stand out to an audience. It would also be quite a memorable font and easily recognisable. It is easy to read and so may catch an audiences eye. If I used it on my ancillary texts, below would be the outcome;

I do like the look of this font on my front cover but my original font is easier to read and looks like it would link more to my genre of music for my work which is dance as the font was called 'will.i.am' as it was inspired by the font he uses on albums and as he is a dance/pop/rnb artist, the font should work well on my work if it works well on his. The font for the name of the song 'I Got U' is hard to see on top of this font though which is another reason why I prefer the other font. The song name also needs to be readable and stand out which it does not when using this font.

Digipak Ideas
I used google images and pinterest to research existing digipaks, photographs, posters and paintings for inspiration for my digipak and magazine advert. I want my ancillary texts to look colourful to create continuity between them and my music video, as in my music video my main character is wearing a colourful costume. I like the idea of using only features of my characters face on the cover, such as only the eyes and the mouth, and having paint dripping from her eyes, such as in one of the photos above. I also like the idea of using a geometrical pattern, specifically using triangles, to also create continuity between my video and my ancillary texts. It would create continuity because my video has a tribal theme and tribal patterns include a lot of triangles and geometrical patterns.

Album Front Cover Research
I did some research, mostly using Google images, to see what existing album covers looked like. They are all fairly unique in terms of mise-en-scene but they do however have things in common. All the album covers either have the name of the artist or their recognisable logo so that the audience can easily see who's album it is, whether they are buying it from a shop or buying it on iTunes. Album covers that do not have the name of the artist on may have something else on the cover which enables the audience to recognise whose album it is. For example on Eminem's Relapse album, his name is not featured on the cover, but a photo of Eminem is featured and because he is very well know, the audience will see it and automatically know it is his album. This also applies to Daft Punk's Random Access Memories album. As they are well know for wearing robot helmets, just having a photo of their two helmets merged together will allow an audience to recognise that is is Daft Punk without actually having to see their name on the album cover. The Beatles Abbey Road album is also a very good example of this.As they are a very well known band and around the time this album was brought out, they were probably one of the biggest bands on the planet and even now they are one of the biggest and most well know bands there ever was, there is no need to feature their name on the album, because everybody already knows who they are and so featuring their name would be unnecessary. The Abbey Road album cover is simplistic yet iconic and whenever anybody sees that album cover, they know exactly who the band and exactly what album it is.
Album covers tend to have bright colours and bold lettering in order to catch the eye of the audience. The cover usually has some sort of link to the theme of the album. For example if the songs on an album are primarily about love, red and pink may be used on the cover, so the audience gets an idea what they are going to be listening to, before they have starting listening to it.
